Mankind’s last chance!

I started the series with Monkeyland, I wrote hundreds of thousands of words and never thought about it. I just spewed what was in me, what had to come out.
I often wonder why agents/readers/editors/publishers can’t tell when a book is worth reading from the very first sentence.
I can. I can because I understand what the craft of writing is all about.
You write one sentence, and that first sentence writes the second sentence, and the second sentence writes…you get the idea.
From the first sentence in Monkeyland to the last sentence in Return to Monkeyland…it was all preordained. I had no choice, and I thank God. What if I had tried to inject my own thoughts into the story? My own opinions?
What would have happened is that I would have written for a while, then stopped and had writer’s block.
I’ve never had writer’s block in my life. When I feel a stop coming on I simply go back in my story to where I injected my own BS.
The story is sacred, and if a writer doesn’t treat it like that then…he gets writer’s block.

A REVIEW OF THE MONKEYLAND SERIES
Having read at least a few thousand fiction books and series in my lifetime, I can testify that the Monkeyland series by Al Case is the best fiction series I’ve ever read. It’s got everything. The characters are so well-written and real that it’s just incredible. Even with the bit characters, you will find yourself caring and wondering what will happen to them. Al Case does an excellent job of transporting you to the locale and showing you around. The plot is gripping — and fascinating — and completely original. Everything from the attitude of the press, to the complacency of government and the reality and depth of people’s thought and character, is remarkably true to life.
